Vacancy: Full Stack Cofounder Rockstar 🚀

 

With LunaTrain, we want to build Europe’s leading booking platform for night trains. We believe that booking tickets online for a night train should be as easy and intuitive as booking a hotel or a plane ticket.

We’ve launched an MVP earlier this year, and we have clear traction with an international customer base. We also got selected to join the Start it @ KBC accelerator program. Now we want to continue building on that momentum. That’s why we are looking for an ambitious software developer with an entrepreneurial mindset to join our team as a co-founder.

 

What you’ll do

  • Build and scale our platform in close collaboration with the rest of the founding team.
  • Take ownership of frontend development and complex backend API integrations (REST APIs, JSON data exchange), ensuring reliability and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain our Java backend (with Maven, running on AWS S3 and Lambda) and Angular frontend (also hosted on AWS).
  • Set up and improve CI/CD automation with GitHub Actions.
  • Work in Scrum, using Jira, Confluence, and GitHub for collaboration and documentation. We prioritize via sprint planning, followup via daily standup, provide a demo during sprint review every two weeks and do a regular retrospective to further improve our way of working.
  • Contribute to technical decisions that will shape the long-term architecture of the company.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Solid experience in full stack development, especially Java (backend), Maven and Angular (component library experience like Material is a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of container and cloud technologies like AWS services (S3, Lambda, EC2, CloudWatch, security, etc.).
  • Proven track record in handling API integrations (including JSON parsing and data handling).
  • Familiarity with automation pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar).
  • Ability to work independently, with strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a startup environment with the flexibility it requires.

 

What we’re not looking for

  • Freelancers or contractors – this role is about long-term commitment and ownership, not short-term gigs. We’re not just looking for another developer. We’re looking for someone who wants to build a company with us.
  • People looking for a regular 9-to-5 job – as an early-stage startup, we need flexibility and proactive problem-solving.
  • Solo coders who don’t like teamwork – we work in Scrum and value collaboration and communication.
  • Someone waiting for tasks – we’re looking for people who take initiative and help shape the product and direction.
  • Those unwilling to commit beyond the trial period – the cofounder track is only for those ready to build something sustainable with us with goal to become fulltime committed over time

 

Plus points

  • Experience with travel APIs, backoffice systems and payment provider API’s (flight, train, accommodation, booking systems, etc.).

 

What you can expect

  • Work remotely most of the time, , or at one of the co-working hubs of Start it @ KBC in Belgium
  • Meet the team a few times per month in person.
  • Start with a 3-month trial period.
