Bologna
Bologna is a beautiful city in Italy, known for its red roofs, medieval towers and lively atmosphere. The city is known as "La Dotta, La Grassa, La Rossa" – the learned (because of the oldest university in Europe), the fat (because of the delicious food) and the red (because of the terracotta-colored buildings).
The city has an impressive historic center with the famous Due Torri, the Basilica di San Petronio and the Piazza Maggiore, the bustling central square of the city. The city has a unique network of kilometer-long arcades (portici), which are perfect for walking in the shade on hot summer days.
Bologna has direct night train connections with:
- Germany (Munich)
- Austria (Vienna, Salzburg, Klagenfurt, Villach...)
- Italy (Bari, Brindisi, Lecce, Taranto, Salerno...)
- Sicily (Palermo, Siracusa, Messina, Catania...)
Most international trains depart and arrive at Bologna Centrale station.
