Aurillac
Aurillac is located on the banks of the Jordanne river in the French department of Cantal. The town has around 25,000 inhabitants and is an important place in this region as a prefecture of the department of Cantal. It is also known as the historical umbrella capital of France. To this day, workshops in the town make unique umbrellas of exceptional quality.
North of Aurillac lies the Parc naturel régional des Volcans d'Auvergne, a vast volcanic area in the Massif Central with lakes, forests, grasslands and numerous mountain peaks. For lovers of mountains and nature, Aurillac is certainly a beautiful destination!
There is a direct night train between Paris and Aurillac. It runs every day, all year round.
